Short for “dispensary,” this track is a bass-heavy tribute to weed and all the chill vibes of stoner culture. It mixes catchy rhythms with lush sounds that aim to amp up the listening experience.

As CITRON guides us through the relaxed atmosphere of a smoke session, the beats hit hard, making you want to dive into a space where creativity flows and limits just don’t exist.

We caught up with the up-and-coming dubstep producer to talk about the origin of the song, his creative process, weed as a muse, and how DISPO is rolling out the green carpet for the next wave of wubs in bass music.

Exclusive Interview:

CITRON Talks Weed, Wubs, and the Making of His Label Debut.

Let’s chat with this rising talent about his new tune – DISPO

Q1. First off – congrats on your label debut, CITRON! What does releasing DISPO mean to you personally and artistically?

CITRON: Thank you so much for taking my track DISPO for your label as this is my first and inspires me to aim for more now, DISPO to me personally means the place where happiness is received and without it, my creative side wouldn’t shine as bright.

Q2. Can you break down what DISPO means and how the cannabis culture influenced the title and theme?

CITRON: DISPO is short for dispensary, which is where I go to get all sorts of items for when I create. Cannabis has been in my life for a long time and when I learned all the good that comes from it, I knew it was here for life.

Q3. ‘DISPO’ clearly leans into weed culture – how did you translate that into sound design, samples, or atmospheres?

CITRON: I used a lot of atmosphere and samples to create the feeling of leaving the DISPO and lighting up and the mind-melting bass is what I created while partaking.

Q4: Let’s nerd out on production – what was the very first element you created for DISPO?

CITRON: With most of my tracks, I start with a good amount of drum programming then add the sub-bass to get a flow of the track. After that, I begin to create an intro and so on.

Q5: Did you build the basslines from scratch or were you manipulating samples?

CITRON: The basslines were made in Serum and then, by using automations to bring those sounds to life.

Q6: Were you high while producing this track at any point? Be honest.

CITRON: Of course! I always like to have the creative juices flowing.

Q7: How do you balance humor or stoner references with maintaining a hard-hitting, professional mix?

CITRON: I have been writing music for over six years now so that helps with knowing what I’m doing. Now it comes so naturally that even when I’m stoned there is no difference, actually makes me more in tune with what I am doing.

Q8. What do you think the perfect setting is to hear DISPO for the first time?

CITRON: I think that the perfect setting for DISPO would be at a cannabis festival or a dispensary event in my opinion and right before the drop everyone there would take the biggest inhale of the good shit and exhale as the drop takes you on a trip.

Q9: How long has “DISPO” been in the works from its first idea to its final master?

CITRON: DISPO was in the works for about 6 months from the idea to having it picked up by Monsoon Season.

Q10: What made you decide that this was the right track to release as your first label drop?

CITRON: I knew DISPO was gonna get picked up because it was my first true track that I felt was showing everything that I learned within 2024 from taking a break and honing in on my craft.

Q11: How does DISPO compare to your earlier unreleased tracks or SoundCloud drops?

CITRON: DISPO is one of the first tracks that I have sent to a label because I feel it met the professionalism of a well-done and excellent track that has surpassed a lot of tracks that I have made in the past

Q12. What’s been the reaction from your friends or inner circle after hearing the track?

CITRON: Everyone that I have shown DISPO to loved it and the one that took me by surprise was my good friend and EDM’s “it girl” – GARDELLA, when they told me the track was sick that’s when I knew that I had a certified banger on my hands.

Q13. What’s next – will there be more songs in the DISPO universe or weed-themed EPs on the way?

CITRON: I can definitely see an EP in the works for this theme as well in the near future but time will tell (winks).

Q14. If you could collaborate with any artist for a DISPO VIP remix, who would you want and why?

CITRON: I think it would be really cool to collaborate with Noetika on a DISPO VIP remix because that man can cook and would love to hear how he would inter-pute DISPO.

Q15. Final question: What strain would you pair with DISPO for the ultimate listening experience?

CITRON: Any type of strain will do for this mind-melting bass track just light up and enjoy the ride!
