Q1: What inspired you to start making music?

LVllABY: Growing up I was kinda a black sheep so I listened to a lot of music and watched a lot of anime by myself. One day I found myself at pretty much rock bottom and made a choice to either get into producing or just delete my subscription on earth! I’m glad I’m still here.

Q2: Who were your biggest musical influences growing up?

LVllABY: Breaking Benjamin, for sure they were also my first tattoo! Outside of that we got Illenium, Porter Robinson, and Alan Walker!

Q3: Can you describe your first experience with electronic music?

LVllABY: Yes! I remember being at home and watching music videos on TV and then Skrillex‘s ‘First Of The Year’ shows up and I kid you not I hated it for a second but some how (and I don’t know how many times it took) all of a sudden now it’s on my MP3 player.

Q4: How do you approach the process of creating a new track?

LVllABY: Honestly I try to get my beat as full as I can get it and I’m talking from beginning of the track to the end. It’s much easier to produce a track from there because all you’re doing is just adding contextual melodic to an existing solid foundation.

Q5: What software and hardware do you use to produce your music?

LVllABY: Ableton 11 Suite, 2 Yamaha HS5, Focusrite 2i2o, and a very old laptop that’s going obsolete so I need to save up for a new one.

Q6: Where do you find inspiration for your music?

LVllABY: A lot of my music is based off the emotions I’m feeling at the time. The DAW is essentially my diary in a sense.

Q7: How would you describe your musical style?

LVllABY: Dichotomy! A contrast between heavier sounds and more vibrant ones.

Q8: How has your sound evolved since you first started producing music?

LVllABY: I feel like I’m beginning to take more risk on ideas now that I have a better hand at the DAW.

Q9: Do you experiment with different genres, or do you prefer to stick to a particular style?

LVllABY: Outside of EDM, I’ve got a rap or two of me and a few hyper-pop tracks as well! Lo-fi is pretty fun to make.

Q10: What has been the most challenging aspect of your music career so far?

LVllABY: I’d say consistency. I live with my fiance, our dog, our cat, and our ferret and I work full time. Sometimes it’s easier to use those things as an excuse to not even put ten minutes in.

Q11: How do you overcome creative blocks?

LVllABY: Generative sequencing helps me out a ton if I get stuck.

Q12: What has been your biggest learning experience in the music industry?

LVllABY: Master as you go and you don’t need to own decks to make a mix.

Q13: Who would be your dream collaboration and why?

LVllABY: Nevve, brakence, YMIR, fknsyd, and/or Heather Sommers. These people have such distinct voices to me that make almost every track they’re on AMAZING!

Q14: Have you worked with other artists or producers? How was that experience?

LVllABY: I have! It’s so cool when you can just rift and be in the flow state with someone else! None are released yet but I got a lot of them on the way!

Q15: How do you approach collaborations differently from solo projects?

LVllABY: There’s two ways that you can go about it. One, you can do it in person and start fresh on a track or two, just sending an idea and letting the collaborator add to that and send it back!

Q16: Can you describe your favorite live performance experience?

Q17: How do you prepare for a live set or performance?

LVllABY: I’ve been curating my sets to play live but now starting to get more used to mixing so I’ve started to DJ free-mix as well

Q18: How do you engage with your audience during a live show?

LVllABY: I just dance. If I can keep the energy going, they will feed off of it!

Q19: What has been the highlight of your career so far?

LVllABY: Opening for eptic for sure has been a crazy one!

Q20: What goals do you have for the future of your music career?

LVllABY: I want to continue to do interviews, collaborate with other artists, and of course – play more shows and make more music!

Q21: Are there any specific milestones you’re aiming to achieve in the next year?

LVllABY: There’s some number goals I have for sure but honestly as long as I’m doing what I love I am happy!

Q22: How do you stay current with trends in electronic music?

LVllABY: Going to local shows helps me stay tapped in to all different sorts of edm from the underground to the top brass!

Q23: What do you think about the current state of the electronic music scene?

LVllABY: I think it’s better than it once was but I do wish it was more affordable like it used to be.

Q24: How important is it for you to be part of a music community, online or offline?

LVllABY: Music is a language that I speak well in so being able to connect with people through music is incredibly humbling and awesome.

Q25: What advice would you give to aspiring electronic music producers?

LVllABY: A little goes a long way and USE REFERENCES!
