LVWZ debuts on BTSM’s label Kannibalen Records with ‘The Sun King’ via Kannibals At The Beach vol. 3

In December of 2019, Black Tiger Sex Machine (BTSM) played a hometown show in Montreal as a part of their Futuristic Thriller tour, with opening support for mighty local up-and-comer LVWZ.

Fast forward to May of this year, 2024, when LVWZ takes to Facebook and says:

Skip ahead again to July 19th, we’re all absolutely treated to a fresh compilation from BTSM’s Kannibalen Records’, Kannibals At The Beach vol. 3. Sitting pretty on track three is LVWZ with The Sun King, a track I wanted to highlight specifically off this fantastic compilation.

The Sun King is a massive, cinematic and modern track with an impressive variety of sounds and textures. Gigantic modern basses with choral stabs is a flavor LVWZ has really enjoyed producing on his last few releases and I would say this is the most effective implementation to date.

Vocals in general are used to great effect in the track, with the lyrical sample in a bridge just before the buildup, and the melodic sample in the outro both filling their respective purposes beautifully.

Speaking of the buildup, I adore the sheer level of bit-crushed goodness it achieves.

From the start with that brilliant descending lead that first appears in the intro, to the finish with the all-stops-pulled-out second drop, and silky smooth outro. The Sun King is a highly engaging track of the immense quality we should all be expecting from Montreal’s bass scene.

The Sun King was a major personal highlight for me on this release, and I can say confidently my next trip over the border will be to see this live.
