DUPER DIVES INTO DEEP DOWNTEMPO SOUNDS
w/ NEW FOUR-TRACK EP
‘INTO THE ABYSS‘

Colorado‘s very own low-and-slow downtempo/electronic bass music producer Jared Dupre (best known as DUPER) is at the helm of Into the Abyss, his latest EP showcasing four downtempo songs as his first body of work and audio amalgam in 2025.
With an impressive 16:44 runtime, garnering four songs, making up one body of work, this is – Into The Abyss, – let’s check out each song and get to know all four installations to DUPER‘s new EP.
But before we do, let’s answer this one question to better understand and grasp the soundscape we are about to experience…
WE ASK: WTF is downtempo?
Downtempo bass music blends chill downtempo vibes with heavy bass, characterized by slower tempos (typically 80 to 110 BPM) and a strong focus on low-end frequencies. It features spacious beats, deep sub-bass, and ambient effects, often augmented by nature sounds and ethereal synths.
Notable artists in this genre include Liquid Stranger, CloZee, Shpongle, and Emancipator.
Now, let’s talk about this EP
Track 1: The Here, The Now
DUPER opens the EP with the captivating downtempo bass track, The Here, The Now, featuring warm pads and gentle percussion that create a calm, introspective atmosphere. The track combines a deep bassline with a dreamy melodic progression, featuring subtle drops while maintaining a chill vibe.
Attention to detail is evident in the intricate sound design, giving the track an organic quality. The Here, The Now balances emotional depth with its groove, making it ideal for late-night reflection or relaxed listening, hinting at a promising full EP.

Track 2: Falling Forward
Falling Forward is an emotional downtempo track that features atmospheric elements, beginning with soft and steady bass. The introduction of glitchy percussion enhances the melancholic rhythm, while the subtle drop and rolling bassline evoke strong emotions.
DUPER skillfully blends light and dark elements, guiding listeners through a dreamy experience that balances vulnerability with strength, making it a memorable highlight of the EP.
Track 3: Across The Threshold
Across The Threshold takes you on a captivating sonic journey, demonstrating that DUPER can create a strong atmosphere. The track starts with eerie ambient sounds and glitch effects, instantly evoking mystery. A deep bassline underlies sparkling pads, gradually leading to a powerful drop.
The sound design is crisp and detailed, with each element finding its place in the mix without overpowering the overall mood.
DUPER’s use of dynamic tension keeps you hooked, as the track ebbs and flows between calm and intensity. The melodic motifs are subtle but emotionally charged, creating a feeling of anticipation and resolution.
Across The Threshold feels like crossing into another dimension – it’s a cosmic trip you won’t want to end. Definitely one of the highlights from the EP.
Track 4: Into The Abyss
DUPER takes a deeper, darker turn with Into The Abyss, delivering a brooding downtempo bass track that lives up to its name. It starts with murky, reverberating pads and ghostly vocal swells that immediately pull you into an ominous headspace.
A deep, heavy bassline with glitchy percussion creates an unsettling vibe, while maintaining a smooth downtempo flow that evokes the sensation of floating through shadowy waters.
The track’s progression is haunting yet oddly comforting, as DUPER balances dark undertones with moments of melodic clarity. The intricate sound design gives it a rich, layered feel, rewarding close listening with hidden details.
Into The Abyss is a masterclass in controlled chaos, proving DUPER’s range and depth as a producer. Easily one of the most memorable cuts from the EP.

DUPER TELLS US:
“These songs are heavily inspired by Tipper, Jade Cicada, and that style of downtempo bass music. My goal with this EP was to combine melodic soundscapes with unique and abstract sound design to create a beautiful, euphoric, mysterious, and at times heavy journey through sound. This was one of the first times I truly dipped my toes into the trip-hop/abstract side of downtempo music and it was so fun to approach writing songs with a different goal in mind than just making a banger. As you cross the threshold into the abyss, things get weirder. What we know and understand seems to be stripped away into nothing as the limits of reality as we know them, are warped. This music is meant to reflect that experience, whether it be the literal distorted reality of falling through a black hole or falling through human consciousness, which can be a black hole of its own at times.”
Let’s Chat w/
DUPER

We ask: What can we expect from you for the rest of 2025, DUPER?
DUPER: Expect a release a month from me for the foreseeable future. With a few more downtempo singles to get through the first part of the year, then a banger EP to start summer off.
I’ve done two label releases to start the year, one with Subciety, and the premiere single from this EP with Soundz Organic. I’m hoping to continue working with more labels throughout the year to continue reaching fresh ears.
My goal is to tap into the festival and show circuit more in 2025, I’ve got some underground/renegade events on the books but I am hoping to lock down some official festival bookings for the summer as this past year my music has started to gain more support.
Thanks again for your time and support!
