[Moreno Valley, CA‘s] Carlos Torres, known best as HUSKI is a frequent flier and long-time supporter here in the stormy atmospheres of the Monsoon Season website. With a plethora of expansive coverage spanning across the spectrum from us, we are up-to-speed with his happenings and development over the years.

Ranging from releases by himself, collabs, record label features, and events stateside and abroad, this dude has kept us busy and at a bow consistently. A true genius in his craft and a great friend to us since day one.
Articles, interviews, spotlights, and listicles galore; we have been a fan of his for some time. Luckily, with a new year upon us; we are graced with even more (new) music, a new imprint, and a few more reasons to keep supporting this animalistic audio aficionado.
However, when he mentioned he would be launching his music publishing imprint HUSKI BASS, we started wagging our tails and barking (we had to) with electric excitement.
Not only will this give him directive control of the creative oversight of his selection, and brand’s vision, but ultimately grant the rising talents and acts of tomorrow opportunities, providing a hub and haven for their music.
Between his music, the imprint label HUSKI BASS, and the countless remix contests he hosts, he is becoming a household name in the realm of electronic bass music.
From trap to bass house, drum n’ bass to future riddim releases, HUSKI has proven that he can produce nearly every electronic bass music genre, making it work for him, and showcasing his signature sound design styles; shining luminously.
It is ever-so-apparent in his tunes such as the upbeat single “To The Top“, his bass-centric collab “Give Us Time” with BLODYA, as well as his galactically enchanting melodic drum n’ bass banger titled –
“Take Me Tonight“, and now via his newest drum and bass release “Be Your Fantasy” takes centerstage today on HUSKI BASS.
Let’s chat w/
HUSKI

Q1. We are thrilled to have you back in our atmosphere, HUSKI. Can you talk to us about your drum and bass tune – “Be Your Fantasy” debuting on your new imprint label, HUSKI BASS?
HUSKI: Glad to be back on the prestigious platform! I have been very stoked to release my first DNB record of 2024 alongside debuting my new bass music publishing imprint called HUSKI BASS.
Showcasing some of my favorite bass music records from local and global underground artists found on SoundCloud and figured I’d kick things off with “Be Your Fantasy” plus an instrumental version and stems that’ll be included for anyone wanting to grab stems and make their remixes for a chance to submit for the official remix EP releasing in March.

Q2. Let’s talk about your new imprint record label, HUSKI BASS. Where did this idea come from and ultimately, where do you want to go with it?
HUSKI: This idea of creating a bass music publishing imprint (record label of sorts) came at various times when I would see a bunch of records barely reaching any attention/engagement that was being hosted on SoundCloud by talented underground music producers.
I wanted to incorporate my music business/distribution system that’s helped me garner thousands of fans and streams from around the world; providing distribution and promotion with the resources I have today to help these artists get new fans, combining our networks, and become a momentum starter for these artists with HUSKI BASS.

Q3. We have indulged in a plethora of drum and bass tunes in your new releases and discography collectively. Where did the fascination derive from and why are you still hooked today?
HUSKI: I think for a while I was just kind of scared to put out drum & bass when I found a hungry curiosity for it in 2018-2020. I have always enjoyed liquid DNB since 2014 but I didn’t play around with the genre format until 2020 and now.
I say scared because drum & bass is preserved by very passionate dance music fans and I wanted to push out DNB which I believe would be a great record for the fans to listen to.
I somehow outgrew caring what anyone thinks and just released the DNB that I know and welcome all comments especially constructive ones specifically from the drum and bass audience.
The genre itself is just addicting, to be honest. The bassline and flow of its foundation seem to always have an angle-lock on me and I came to enjoy the tempo of it too.
My earlier catalog consisted of traditional bass genres like trap and dubstep that’s usually 140-160 BPM and DnB being 174 is just so refreshing to me.
Q4. What can we expect to see, hear, and witness with the emergence of HUSKI BASS?
HUSKI: You can expect a lot of my favorite bass music records that I find on SoundCloud to make their way through all streaming platforms with some exciting dubstep & drum & bass music this first quarter of 2024 by BLODYA, TEKNO, Sean Ziral, and many more.
HUSKI BASS is an accurate expression of my taste in bass music and my ambition to discover new artists.

Q5. “Be Your Fantasy” is such a serene and salacious track from your repertoire. Can you break down the creative processes and technical development of the tune?
HUSKI: Be Your Fantasy is an exciting drum & bass anthem that I created and finished in November of last year. I had these nice and quick vocals from a sample pack laying around and originally wanted to make it future riddim but didn’t get satisfied with the 145 bpm vibes I was getting with the vocals.
I sped the record up to 174 and refixed the foundation more to a drum n’ bass format and was satisfied! It was kind of unique how I approached this one because I usually make the composition first and then grab vocals and fix its key/tempo to the current project. and with Be Your Fantasy, it was the opposite.
I had the vocals already and made the instrumentation around it. I felt Be Your Fantasy was a great title for the record as the vocals imply throughout the recorded sample.
Q6. What’s next for HUSKI? What does 2024 hope to look like for you as an artist?
HUSKI: You can expect a lot of drum & bass from me this year, and also an EP that’s coming out soon called “2042”.
You can expect to see some crazy bass music records being pushed by Moi (me) throughout 2024 with many more to come.
I hope for more opportunities to showcase my music taste and play shows locally and globally alongside supporting major dance music artists and going on tour.
