Colorado’s Bloomurian fuses elegance and experimentation in new single ‘Liminal Landscapes‘.

Robin Liepman, or best known as Bloomurian, Boulder, Colorado’s burgeoning bass act, fires off with his latest experimental bass release, Liminal Landscapes.
Being more than just a new single – it’s the product of creative constraint, community collaboration, and a defining live debut that helped solidify his evolving sonic identity.
The track was conceived at the renowned Mountain Sound music producer summer camp, where immersive masterclasses push artists beyond their comfort zones. During sessions led by bass music innovator Underbelly, producers were given an unconventional challenge: build an entire song structure using nothing but rhythm.

No melodies. No lush harmonic layers. Just the producer and the beat.
Building From the Ground Up
In the first class, Bloomurian focused solely on crafting a full arrangement around an experimental rhythmic framework. This stripped-back approach forced a deeper exploration of groove, negative space, and percussive storytelling. The result was a skeletal structure pulsing with intention—an abstract rhythmic landscape waiting to be brought to life.
The second masterclass introduced a new dimension. Students were guided through Ableton’s Expressive Chords device, learning how to inject harmonic movement and melodic emotion into previously rhythm-only compositions. For Bloomurian, this was the turning point.
The once-minimal framework began to bloom into something cinematic and immersive, bridging technical experimentation with emotional resonance.

Racing the Clock
With the incentive to complete the track in time for a February-slated Mountain Sound compilation release, Bloomurian kicked the project into high gear. What began as a summer camp exercise evolved into a fully realized statement piece, one that captures both the spontaneity of its origin and the polish of intentional refinement.
But, before its official compilation appearance, ‘Liminal Landscapes‘ saw an even bigger moment.
A Defining Live Debut At Mission Ballroom

The track made its live debut during Bloomurian’s first-ever performance at the iconic Mission Ballroom, as part of Threyda’s Archetype event, which included heavy-hitters like OTT, Mindex, DRRTYWULVS, Bloomurian (himself), Living Light, Dillard, and a star-studded visual performance roster with Actualize, Glass Crane, Fractaled Visions, and Android Jones.
In a venue known for its pristine acoustics and immersive production capabilities, the song unfolded exactly as intended – layer by layer, frequency by frequency.
The response was immediate.
Since that debut, ‘Liminal Landscapes‘ has quickly become one of Bloomurian’s favorite tracks to play live. It not only translates powerfully in a large-scale sound system environment, but it also feels deeply personal—marking a milestone in his artistic journey.

What started as a classroom challenge has transformed into a cornerstone of Bloomurian’s live sets and a defining piece of his signature sound.
It’s a reminder that limitation often breeds innovation – and that sometimes the most immersive landscapes are built from the simplest beginnings.
