Zaiya-Jin. The NM Bass-Music Producer Pushing ‘Over 9000’!

Please welcome Zaiya Jin to the storm!

Q1: Welcome! Where did the Zaiya-Jin project come from? Take us back to the beginning in regards to your decision to make music under this alias.

A1: Thanks for having me! The tale of Zaiya-Jin starts off around 2016/2017 when I was still in the Army. Without us having much leave time my only outlet outside of work was music. At the time I was heavily influenced by anything dubstep from the late legend Cookie Monsta to Zomboy. Watching their sets from around the world really got me motivated to try it. Making that decision I got myself my first decks which were some tiny Numark Ones. Through the years I kept up the passion working as much as I can with the time I had. It wasn’t something serious at the time until 2018 where I started producing and got my first chance to perform in front of people.  Never had a stage name before I just went by Z since most people call me that until I had a realization. I’m a huge Dragon Ball Z fan and thought if I could incorporate something from there with my name. With an easy change of a letter, the name Zaiyajin came into play.

Q2: Who has been the biggest inspiration and or role model in your journey thus far? Inside and outside the worlds of music, of course.

A2: Tough question. With so many new and old artist in the game it’s hard to pick one that stick out. Honestly everyone out there now grinding on their craft is an inspiration to me especially In The times were in now. Currently my big inspirations  are the late legend Cookie Monsta, Gram Green, and Glockz. They each have their own unique styles and energy that I try to incorporate into my own flow.

Q3: What has been your favorite track to make so far in your career? Why this track?

A3: My favorite track that I’ve produced is an unreleased collab that I have with the homie names Arkeus! We’re both very excited to release it soon.

Q4: What do you have in store for the rest of 2020 and or into 2021? Let your fans know what is next in the realm of Zaiya-Jin!

A4: 2020 Plans are simple. Try to produce 4 more tracks before the years end and to have another mix ready for 2021. It’s hard to make plans for 2021 with how things are currently but we have hope. I plan on making more out of state moves for shows and put myself out there more. My downside is self promotion. Personally I don’t like to look better than anyone, rather just be happy I’m apart of something great and I have love for my passion.

Q5: Your musical arsenal is definitely thick and packs some heat. Although, out of curiosity, who are you trying to collaborate with here in the near future?

A5: I’m currently in the works with two collabs. One with Arkeus and another with Geezy. I’d love to have the opportunity to collaborate with Delcherro, Ivan, Senri, Margwa, and the Frosty King himself Ayonikz. My style matches theirs and I know we would make something unique!

Q6: Walk us through your creative process behind your newest release Ding. What went into that remix creatively from your perspective as an artist? Let’s recall, Mortalz. What about that track?

A6: My latest track “Ding” was a very fun tune  to make. Started off as most do with hitting my head against my desk trying to come up with sound design of my liking which takes the longest. I always judge myself too soon. But with multiple trails I got the synth that I was trying to go for. Next was to get the flow working with it. Add drums, FX, make an intro, add an egg, slice of cheese, boom breakfast. As soon as I’m finished I usually send it out to some friends to give me feedback on what sounds good and what needs improvement. The ears get pretty use to hearing the same things over and over again so it’s always nice to have an outside ear.

My track Mortalz was a very difficult project. The track and another one called “ Rob Job” were both honored to get a label release on “AY YO FREE!”. It took me about a week or two to finish Mortalz because they wanted a two track EP for the release. I’m just happy that I was able to buckle down and finish a track in a short amount of time.

Q7: Who do you see killing it these days? Give them some love and a shout-out below!

A7: There’s so many artists up and coming it’s fantastic. The ones who are sticking out most to me are Delcherro, Cybertron, and HOL!. I’m grateful to be able to talk to and call Delcherro a great friend of mine who motivates me to keep pushing as a producer.
