[Baltimore, Maryland]Enmity Collective has launched its debut EP promptly titled “Golden Era” this summer comprised of U.R.U., Kami Koroshi, and SHIBITO; and I’m here to take you track by track and give you the rundown on why this quickly rising group of artists should be on your radar.
Track 1. U.R.U. – Devastate
Golden Era opens up with a devastating tune by U.R.U., appropriately titled “Devastate”. This track opens with a simple beat that quickly transcends into a build that takes you straight into the gates of hell when this drop hits you.
The overwhelming low-end railing through your speakers as a sustain-bass can be heard slaying the high-end of the frequency range. The riddim-style patterns of the backing basses allow you to grab onto a flow and move your head back and forth as you get destroyed.
You are allowed a short moment of air before U.R.U. comes back through with this insane drop, same concept but effective. This is a great way to open the EP, as a super heavy track that doesn’t overstay its welcome!
When asked about it, U.R.U. stated that this is the first track they finished that truly feels like they accomplished the sound design they have been searching for, which means I’m sure we will hear more of this madness in the future!

“My track “Devastate” on the Golden Era EP is a track I made using my new understanding of sound design. I have been searching for this type of sound for a very long time. I feel as if I finally understand the creative process of heavy dubstep.” – says U.R.U.
Track 2. Kami Koroshi – Start Dumpin
Next up on the roster, we have “Start Dumpin’” by Kami Koroshi. This track opens up with some scientific effects that slowly reveal an interesting lead, almost Middle-Eastern-sounding, but I can’t say for certain that is the case here.
When the drop hits on this one, you are sent into a frenzy as the super nasty low end creates these patterns that make you want to move your body.
The basses here truly excel when it comes to the pattern structure, constantly changing yet staying familiar, while also allowing the sublime to hit your spine and send you into a complete state of trance.
The second drop raises the stakes by adding a melodic element into the mix with some vocal chops! I personally like this a lot and would love to hear him lean into this more often!
Fun fact: this entire track was made while a baby was being held.

“With this song I initially wanted to spend some time with my son while making music, developing new sounds for when I make my inevitable return. It ended up becoming our favorite spot to hang out and 100 hours later “Start Dumpin” was born. I was never honestly going to release it, however, where better to put out something meaningful than on a compilation with your best friends and biggest supporters to launch your new brand?” – says Kami Koroshi
Track 3. SHIBITO – Shinobi
Last but not least, we have SHIBITO dropping “Shinobi”. This track kicks off with once again, Middle-Eastern-sounding plucks, accompanied by a monologue and a laidback beat, promptly setting a vibe before quickly sending us into the drop. This tune is here to destroy you with its railing, repetitive subline, and midrange bass patterns. This one is a fun tune you can tell will go off live and should be added to your playlist if you are a DJ!
When asked about the track, we were told that this was a perfect representation of his love for both music and video games, which I mean, who can’t relate to that?

“Shinobi was created through the love of riddim and video games! Taken from the inspirations from Sekiro and other samurai-based video games. From the love of riddim/dubstep I had taken a Japanese-style melody with some heavy basses to create a chill, yet hard-hitting banger.” – says SHIBITO
The Cloud’s Conclusion
Overall, Enmity Collective has showcased a wide variety of electronic and heavy bass music with this Golden Era EP release, and it leaves me wanting more, so trust me when I say we will be here for their follow-up in the future.
