Storm Coverage By: Garth Jones

For its fifth (5th) addition to its annual returning Goblins compilation, The Goblins Lair puts forth five artists to complete the quintet of bass music bodies of work. In this selection of hits, the internationality is apparent via the representative and respective regions.
Hailing each from a hemisphere of the globe, we introduce Poland, Canada, The United Kingdom, Australia, and The United States as Quivile, KomplicHated, Visitor 44, Some Kind Of, and PRZM.
In years past, the previous 4 GOBLINS Compilations has seen the likes of Kuhlosul, Wynde Up, Rescve, Scafetta, Re:Flex, Jumpskare, XVRY, and so many more, all ranging in the genres of dubstep, freeform, and trap. Each addition and installment of the GOBLINS Compilations are increasingly getting more and more intricate and representative of the worlds talent.
The international spectrum that The Goblins Lair effortlessly brings forth each and every time is what keeps this label at the forefront of worldwide connectivity and togetherness. Packing immense and ground-shaking heat from start to finish.
Who might we see in the GOBLINS Vol. 6 compilation? We don’t know for sure, but we do know we will be standing ready to cover its release.
United States, Poland, United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada are all here; so lets catch up with each artist on the roster and what sort of madness they bring to the table.
Artist Interviews
Goblins Vol. 5
Quivile – BOSS
Question 1: Can you tell us about your track on Goblins Vol 5. and what the inspiration behind the production?
Answer 1: Last year I played support for Modestep and saw some legends like Borgore kill it live. I gathered ideas from all the tracks that made crowd headbang like crazy and that’s how I knew how I want the “Boss” drops to sound. I think I created ultimate banger that will fill any dancefloor, it’s loud, bouncy and I’m really happy with the sound design. When it comes to buildups I was inspired by Knife Party. Actually, I produced this track on my solo trip to Świętokrzyskie Mountains (Poland). I highly recommend just taking your laptop and headphones with you and getting inspired in nature.
Question 2: With 2022 wrapping up, what can we expect from you in 2023?
Answer 2: I’m a really hard-working guy and 2023 is going to be filled with releases. My goal is to release at least 12 songs. I’m pushing my sound to the next level, I progressed a lot in 2022. I want to be considered the best bass music producer in Poland and will do everything I can to achieve that.
Komplichated – LAIR SLAYER
Question 1: Can you tell us about your track on Goblins Vol 5. and what the inspiration behind the production?
A1: The inspiration is the label itself. Some amazing artists have been or are still part of this collective. Lair slayer is our story of trying to force our way in.
Question 2: With 2022 wrapping up, what can we expect from you in 2023?
A2: Global domination.. (just kidding), we will be releasing our first EP and playing some shows! We have a collab list quickly growing with names we never thought we would be next to. Our biggest goal though is building a family with the music and spending as much time with everyone as we can.
Visitor 44 – Cultist Headspace
Question 1: Can you tell us about your track on Goblins Vol 5. and what the inspiration behind the production?
Answer 1: Cultist Headspace, for me, was an opportunity to experiment and make something a little more unusual. I’ve always had a soft spot for the dark and grungy vibes in songs and always love throwing in something that’s a bit wiggy or strange. The title of the track was inspired by a character from “Altered Carbon” and once that was set, the rest came naturally and it really fit the vibe that I was aiming for.
Question 2: With 2022 wrapping up, what can we expect from you in 2023?
Answer 2: At this stage I’m looking at releasing an EP for 2023. Haven’t got any dates set as of yet, but I’m very excited to show everybody some of the new stuff I’m working on. I feel my music has taken a turn in the right direction these past few months and I’m super excited to see how everything plays out and to show everybody what I’ve got in store. Might start aiming to play shows in the near future, but the EP is priority number 1 for the time being.
Some Kind Of – Fully Charged
Question 1: Can you tell us about your track on Goblins Vol 5. and what the inspiration behind the production?
Answer 1: The inspiration behind Fully Charged was a happy accident. Stumbled across the vocals when looking for some for a WIP. As a result it completely changed the direction of the track into what you hear today. I was able to use the vocal throughout to really drive the theme. Fully Charged was the perfect title and energized my creative process.
Question 2: With 2022 wrapping up, what can we expect from you in 2023?
Answer 2: In 2023 I hope to still be able to find time to create music. I have a few tracks in my vault that I hope to self release. It’s a young man’s game. I’m still holding on at 35 and provided I can still find time hope to stay in the game a while longer.
PRZM – TALK SH!T
Question 1: Can you tell us about your track on Goblins Vol 5. and what the inspiration behind the production?
Answer 1: Talk Sh!t was started in the summer of 2022 and wrapped up towards the end of the year. I had been playing the track out at live shows without vocals but once The Goblin’s Lair picked it up, we decided to add some vox and complete it’s final form. The inspiration from the track comes from the sound I’ve been pushing over the last year or so.
Question 2: With 2022 wrapping up, what can we expect from you in 2023?
Answer 2: It’s a goal of mine to play more festivals across Canada in 2023!
