Please welcome GAIRN to the storm!

GAIRN Interview:

Q1: Thanks for joining us, we are elated to finally have you! Can you give us the origin story of the name and idea behind the GAIRN name?

A1: My artist name comes from a shorter spin on my first name “GARREN” and just making it one syllable instead of two.

Q2: For the unknowing readers, and soon-to-be fans, where are you from?

A2: I have lived in Knoxville, Tennessee for most of my life and recently moved from there, 2 months ago, to Tampa, Florida.

Q3: What lead you into the dance music world, and what ultimately kept you?

A3: When I was a kid I was exposed to electronic dance music through the game Dance Dance Revolution (DDR). My brother and I were completely obsessed with DDR and also fell in love with Daft Punk‘s album ‘Discovery‘. During the ages of 19-22 that was my period where I was a die hard dubstep headbanging fan going to shows every chance that I could get. Back in 2012 I purchased my first DJ controller and I’ve been  pushing waves since then and started actual production in 2018. So, it looks like the answer would be dubstep.

Q4: What impact do you wish to have on the world, whether it’s music or being a role model for others?

A4: I would like for my legacy to say that I have encouraged people to stay positive and creative. Most importantly to show how to be more intentional with the interaction of people around us.
If we all took a small amount of time to be more engaged or mindful of others around us it could completely change someone’s entire day.

Q5: If someone is dealing with writers-block or just cannot find the mental groove to get into to learn & write music. Do you have any advice for them?

A5: Whenever writer’s block happens to me I accept the mindset of today is not the day to produce music. I take that as a sign to go get inspired through other activities. Either you can find me skateboarding, hiking, hanging out with my dog, working out or enjoying the day off at the beach with my girl.

Q6: Any causes that you personally advocate for? Can you speak on this topic for us?

A6: I am a huge advocate for Mental Health Awareness and anyone who deals with depression. I am very empathetic for people who deal with depression. Its crucial to for us to communicate to our friends and family on any issues that we may be dealing with. We are not meant to do life alone.

Q7: What is life like in the shoes of GAIRN? Walk us through a Day-In-The-Life of you!

A7: Throughout my work week I am an instructor at Guitar Center at the Tampa store.
As of right now I teach guitar, bass, and drums to students that ages range from 6-58 years old. The other half of my work week I’m serving tables. At the end of my workday I find myself jumping onto Ableton to work on some projects or I spend time with my girlfriend.

Q8: What changes are coming for GAIRN as we head into 2021?

A8: Hopefully more bookings and label releases.

Q9: What artists inspire you the most to make music? Are there any artists outside the dance realm that also inspire you?

A9: ill. Gates , Jantsen , Oolacile, Dirtysnatcha, Nosphere, Ray Volpe, and Hi I’m Ghost. An artist outside the EDM community that inspires me would be Neil Peart.

Q10: Where has been your favorite places/situations  to play music and/or perform?

A10: The first one would be playing my first “out of town” show opening up for Psymbionic’s Carbon Based Lifeform Tour in Louisville, Kentucky. It was a tiny packed room full of 150+ people at this place called the Galaxie. The next favorite would be when I had the honor to go B2B with Floze closing out Figure‘s show on his Madhouse Tour back in August 2019 in Knoxville, Tennessee at The Concourse.

Q11: Who do you believe deserves more spotlight and recognition in their music careers?Give them a healthy shout-out.

A11: Definitely my dude VICEGRIP. His production game is incredible. Don’t sleep on him!

Thank you, GAIRN!
