Jalen Gasner, or more robotically known as Rage-Bot, is a Denver based music producer who specializes in bass music. With half of his humanity stripped by the electric current of robotics, he is left with an animatronic presence of sentience. Rage-Bot annihilates his way through his tracks and utterly mutilates remixes, leaving no room for error.

Question 1: Thank you for joining us, we’re excited to finally meet! What is the backstory to the Rage-Bot craze?

Answer 1: Glad to join you all for sure. The backstory behind the Rage-Bot craze what a great question. It all started when I was introduced to Dubstep and electronic music when I was about 13-14 years old. I was up listening to music one night alone in my bedroom when I first heard “Pro Nails (Rusko Remix) and  I was instantly addicted to the art form. After that point on I researched what goes into making music and taught myself everything I could learn to become a producer and now here we are!

Question 2: You’re from Colorado. What sort of upbringing did that contribute to as far as where you are today?

Answer 2: Honestly I think where your raised has alot to do with who you are as a person. Colorado has helped me be in tune with nature. I have definitely found myself a few times when I have lost my way and Colorado has played a big part in helping me just enjoy life and the little things. So I would say yes it has contributed.

Question 3: What do you feel Colorado does best in terms of bass music? What else do you think Colorado is best known for?

Answer 3: Ahhh good ol’ Colorado! Colorado does bass music unlike anyone else out there. They don’t call us the Bass Capital for nothing. The acts they bring out for shows are always so fresh. Not to mention we have some of the best promoters in the scene out here making these events happen. It’s strange the scene is more like a giant family then just like minded people. Colorado is best known for the ganja or the snowy winters.

Question 4: Who were your biggest inspirations in music culture?

Answer 4:  My all time number 1 inspiration was Daft Punk those guys did it like no one else , they just were the first to take EDM and create a visual and audio experience live I loved that. I can’t not mention Savant either this dude is the Beethoven of our generation I think he’s one of the most slept-on artists and I think he deserves a lot more recognition he is also a huge inspiration as well.

Question 5: Who is in your upcoming developments as far as collabs go that you can share with the audience?

Answer 5:  I have quite a few collabs in the works but there is one that stands out and is special to me. I’m currently working on a track with my homie BvssFlux and it’s a slapper. Also got a collab coming out that I won’t get into to much detail on but it’s with a rapping cyborg do that’s pretty neat.

Question 6: What goes into the musical routine from a day-in-the-life perspective? Walk us through your day as a producer.

Answer 6: To be honest I’m the most unorganized when it comes to a day-to-day musical routine. I’m more of a go-with-the-flow type artist and when I feel inspiration come on I try to get those ideas out as soon as I can so I carry my laptop absolutely everywhere I go to work home when I’m sitting at home the car when I’m driving any chance I get to work on music I take the chance.

Question 7: What can you tell us about your mask?

Answer 7: The question everyone asked me lol. the mask is a super simple plastic mask that we painted black and silver to give it the look of a robotic face. Then we bought LED cosplay I lights and installed them in the eye holes of the mask. also a lot of people have been asking me if I can see I can see very well the light does affect my vision a little bit and does start to hurt your eyes but usually after like an hour or said it’s like the perfect time it doesn’t hurt too much. if you guys want to know more about the mask you can DM me whenever on any of my socials that includes my Facebook SoundCloud Instagram and any other social media platform I may be on I would be happy to help anyone else looking to build a mask or even just get into cosplaying.

Question 8: Can you lay on us a verbal description of your studio? What tech do you use?

Answer 8: so my studio usually just consists of my laptop Ableton and headphones. however when I’m sitting down at my home studio actually sitting there working for hours an hours I use edifer studio monitors , Roland jd-xa midi keyboard , Lenovo laptop and then I just use Ableton and serum download it on my laptop and that’s the whole setup.

Question 9: If you could experiment with any genre or style which would it be?

Answer 9: I really want to start working with like old-school twangy banjo riffs so I guess that would be considered bluegrass but I want to infuse it with light really heavy Bass music EDM. Like a hybrid banjo dubstep tune.

Question 10: Who do you want to give more spotlight to in their career(s)? Give them a healthy shout-out!

Answer 10: definitely shout out to the homie BvssFlux dude is a monster to be reckoned with. I also got to give a shout out to IMO the most underrated dubstep duo out there Chainlynx and last but not least my brother from Venezuela, AlienPark this kid is going to takeover Bass Music in the next few years.
