Michigan-based Ben Nowacki, or best known as BUTTONZ, a burgeoning bass music producer/DJ and a frequent flyer in our thunderous atmosphere, teams up with budding bass music producer Abby Vice for their collaborative Breathe EP, featuring two new tunes, ‘Breathe‘ and ‘Not Tonight, landing via Ex Medias.

Abby Vice, an Ohio-based multi-instrumentalist, trip-hop/bass music producer, DJ, and pianist, is no stranger to the elevated soundscapes we love to uncover. Her ability to weave graceful melodies and gritty basslines into this shared sonic world makes her latest work with BUTTONZ so compelling.

The story behind these beats begins at Boredomfighters Foundation’s Perennial Retreat for music producers, where the two initially met.

The frequencies that the power of friendship can cultivate are at the forefront of both songs.

Both artists showcase their most heartfelt work yet, giving fans and listeners a firsthand experience of the personification of synergistic frequencies that friendship can cultivate.

After the retreat, their bond didn’t dissipate – it grew stronger with time as they continued to maintain their friendship, eventually turning that connection into something they could express through music.

While expansive in its sound, the EP arrives at a time when intention, purpose, creativity, and mindfulness are shaping music in increasingly meaningful ways.

Now, she returns alongside BUTTONZ with ‘Breathe‘, their EP that brings all those attributes and elements together under one roof, underscoring the notions of purposeful creation in both tune.

The result is something extraordinary – and this extended play stands as proof of what can happen when those elements come together with purpose.

BUTTONZ tells us:

“There was so much heart and soul put into this music! All the intentions were pure and genuine from the start! We both really tapped into our feelings on both of these, and I think that’s honestly where the best music comes from.”

Abby Vice tells us:

“It was such a beautiful experience creating the ‘Breathe’ EP with BUTTONZ. We first met at the Perennial Retreat for music producers, and instantly connected over our love for hip-hop, bass, and melody. We stayed in touch after the retreat and quickly became great friends.”

“Breathe” started as a piano and string-heavy trip-hop track that Ben transformed into a melodic, ethereal banger. Getting to see both of our flavors emerge with the intention of expressing what we were going through at the time was truly a treat.”

“Not Tonight” was honestly even more of a process to write, because there was so much intention behind it. Ben explained to me how the song first came to light, and the message resonated with me so much. I love how music can be so many things to us- even a process of setting intentions.”
