I had just gone through a really tough breakup, and I sat down with my friend L1Z, who is the co-writer and co-producer of the song, and we started talking — like really talking — about how sometimes guys just don’t quite get it. Like, the basics — kindness, respect, and effort. The bare minimum was missing.“
