Indie pop and underground dance music vocalist Whitney Waz strikes gold again with her most recent solo self-release single titled Like a Drug.
Whitney has been creating quite a name for herself while gaining a massive roster of festival bookings and shows, alongside other major collaborations, and is not one to be slept on as she quickly rises amongst the ranks.
“Like a Drug” begins with a nice ambient, almost lo-fi piano pattern that sets a calming stage, but not before quickly violating your eardrums with a railing 808.
When the beat kicks in, Whitney takes you on quite the adventure as she builds tension before a massive chorus explodes.
This track has to be one of the “largest” vocal performances I’ve heard in her discography, and with that, I mean she brings the energy and A-game with the recording.
The sound design on the beat isn’t to be overlooked either, because it’s not only a railing hip hop pattern, but it has many elements of EDM styles infused with it that truly create a unique listening experience.
“Like a Drug” displays a creative and unique performance from Whitney Waz as she comes in hot with the lyrical content and tonality that perfectly complements the beat and instruments chosen in this track, and vice versa.
This track is a truly fun journey to just sit back and vibe with and enjoy as it rails through your speakers and creates a chill and comforting environment for you and your friends to just hang out and live in the moment with. One of those songs that’ll become a nostalgic feeling for those who hop on the hype train now in 2025.
