Häxa has released their new single ‘Sad Siren‘, featuring a captivating dark electronic ambiance that is hauntingly inviting.

Häxa, the mysterious sonic conjurer who spent 2024 gathering a cult-like crew (no joke) – is back with her new single titled Sad Siren, a captivating yet eerily alluring blend of poetic storytelling and futuristic synth-wave.

Sad Siren is like a mind-altering lament, ringing out through the ages like a siren’s song from the endless ocean, mixing the despair of loss with the ups and downs of dark synth beats in textbook fashion.

The journey of Sad Siren is as eerie and textured as its story. It was nearing completion and was wrapped up nearly three years ago, but the original tracks got lost when a computer repair went wrong, so Häxa only had the backing track she performed live with (more on that later).

Now, she’s back with fresh vocals and a whole new vibe, ready to drop the song in its raw, revived form. Between the waves that create the beats and those cool layered melodies, there’s a super personal tale that anyone who’s felt grief can relate to and vibe with.

This track is going to be a welcoming listen for fans of dark electronic music and alternative pop alike.

This is the age of Häxa, and her time is now.

Interview w/ Häxa:

Q1: Where did the idea for Sad Siren come from and how did you translate that idea into a usable format for a song?

Häxa: I often start with music first, and the first thing I had was this looped bell sound – the one that comes in at 0:28 – and a lo-fi drum beat.
I later replaced the drum beat with waves that I chopped up, but when I had just those 2 sounds I saved it as a rough sketch named Sad Siren.
That was never meant to be the name, usually, I change the name of a sketch when I go back to it later. Up to about a month before I decided to release it, I was still trying to come up with other names for this damn song but it just stuck.
Lyrics are usually written in a stream-of-consciousness style, I don’t deliberate on the words unless I’m trying to do something specific. In this case, I wrote all the lyrics in one sitting and the interpretation revealed itself to me much later.

Q2: What was the most challenging aspect in the entirety of its creation and how did you overcome that challenge?

Häxa: About a year and a half ago, my hard drive malfunctioned. The person I took it to for repair (fuck you forever btw) wiped my hard drive without backing any of it up.
As you can imagine, I have set up regular backups now, but I lost a lot of music and this song was one of them.
Because I’d been performing the song for a while, I had the backing track still saved in SoundCloud. I tried starting over with it a few times but I could never get it right so I ended up keeping the music as is and re-recorded the vocals.

Q3: How does Sad Siren differ from earlier works of yours, is it similar in any fashion, and will these new dimensions excite your fans and listeners?

Häxa: It’s definitely a different vibe than the Priestess EP. This is a song about grief and loss, whereas the EP is much more about power and empowerment. This is also a much “softer” sound than my previous songs. What they do have in common is the deep, raw emotions I draw from in the creative process. Making music is extremely cathartic for me and I hope that’s what it can be for my listeners as well.

Q4: What’s next for Häxa? Tell us what we can expect from you in the not-so-distant future!

Häxa: The next single after this is about a lesbian who’s burned as a witch for giving herself an abortion. I don’t have a name for it yet. That shouldn’t take long to finish so after that’s ready I’ll be spending a lot of time writing and producing more.
