Let’s Chat w/
Carlsin

Q1. Welcome to our violently torrential storm, the HYPERCANE – can you tell us about yourself and your forthcoming track, ‘Apocalypse’ coming on June 1st?

Carlsin: My name is Carlsin. I’m a multi-instrumentalist music producer from Baltimore. I dabble in a lot of different styles of music but I always aim for my tracks to have a recognizable sound.

My music can usually be described as a blending of hip-hop and various forms of dance music. However today, I’m here to talk about my new track ‘Apocalypse’ which is my first official dubstep/drum n’ bass tune.

Q2. What all went into the creative process and development of ‘Apocalypse’? Walk us into that brainstorm of yours!

Carlsin: My intent with this track was to create a melodic dubstep/DNB track but with a vibe inspired by hard rock music. The track features a lot of heavily distorted guitar, saxophone, neuro-synth sound design, and classic rock vocal samples.

Q3. Tell us about this guest mix! From the curation of tracks to the style of soundscapes, what should we expect?

Carlsin: This guest mix is comprised of all original Carlsin tracks. It’s meant to be a showcase of my versatility as a producer. It features an eclectic mix of electro, glitch hop, dubstep, drum n’ bass, house, hip-hop, funk, rock, soul, blues, jazz, and R&B.

These tracks range from chill downtempo numbers to intense dance floor bangers.

Q4. What’s next for you Carlsin? Let your fans know what is coming after the HYPERCANE.

Carlsin: I have a busy release schedule planned for 2024 so I should have tracks coming out pretty consistently. I have several live shows on the books and I’m excited to start playing some festivals soon. Whenever possible my shows feature a live drummer and a live saxophone player, and I’ll soon be incorporating my live keyboard playing as well.
