Q1. Welcome to our violently torrential storm, the HYPERCANE – can you tell us about yourself and your forthcoming ‘Gravity Stress’ coming on June 1st?

Up There: My name is Syruss, I go by the stage name “Up There”, I am 31 years old and live on the west coast of Canada. I have been producing electronic music for nearly 7 years and started the Up There project about 4 years ago.

My forthcoming track “Gravity Stress” is a very exciting release for me as it showcases one of my best works/stories to date. Gravity Stress is a direct correlation to the Up There story.

“Humanity has to be wiped out and rebuilt under a power that has manipulated and controlled earth for centuries” Gravity Stress is one of the forces they use against humans to prevent them from their full potential”

Q2. What all went into the creative process and development of ‘Gravity Stress’? Walk us through that brainstorm of yours!

Up There: This song started with the driving acid bass in the intro, once that was established I went to my folder of vocals to look for inspiration (the majority of my vocals are phone calls with homies)I found the gravity stress sample and right away everything started to click.

I developed a cosmic-style soundscape with a bit of fear and heroism to start painting the picture. Background sounds and the outer space-type effects really brought the idea forward as well.

After that it was a matter of writing a drop that resonated with the track, in my head, I wanted to make a bass that sounded like the force of gravity pushing on Earth. I am very happy with how this tune turned out

Q3. Tell us about this guest mix! From the curation of tracks to the style of soundscapes, what should we expect?

Up There: This guest mix is a quick trip into the mind of Up There. The first track comes in with one of my favorite collaborators KOMPLVINT while also showcasing a whole bunch of my unreleased work. I filled this one with music from my friends and a few of my favorite artists. This mix intends to showcase the more underground style sound as well as bring you into the soundscapes of my home “The Shadow Realm”.

Q4. What’s next for you, Up There? Let your fans know what is coming after this storm.

Up There: Be on the lookout for larger label releases this year. I am also planning on dropping my debut sample pack this year and working on my first full-length Up There album titled “Fall of Babylon”.
I am planning some big things this year – thank you all so much for the support
