CYCO: Interview
Q1: Welcome to our storm! For our readers and newly gained soon-to-be fans, who is CYCO? Briefly walk us through your origin story (as the duo) and decision to choose your name!
A1: Our name is a combination of our solo projects CYKX and PyroCo. We met a couple years ago; at the time CYKX was organizing his first local event and booked PyroCo for his first gig. This year we decided to collaborate on a project and hit it off.
Q2: Being a Texas resident must have bigger benefits in regard to music. What has been most constructive to you in The Lone Star State?
A2: TX is heavy on bass and we wanted to take advantage of that by bringing a unique sound to the scene. We love to show our appreciation of all music by incorporating exotic sounds from all over the world, across all genres, in a hard party format.
Q3: Pharaoh’s Return is your utmost recent release. From both perspectives does the tracks have ambiguous meaning or are your projects naturally harmonious when starting them? Two minds are better than one, they say!
A3: Our process normally consists of one of us starting a project, and the other finishes it – while ensuring both of us are satisfied as the project progresses. I would not say we are harmonious but we balance each other out. Our styles differ and that is exactly what we are aiming for – wild, different, unexpected.
Q4: What can your fans expect for the rest of 2020? What about anticipate for 2021?
A4: We are releasing a cover of “Love’s Not Just for Christmas” for charity, whose 100% of proceeds will be going to Doctors Without Borders very soon – as well as 3 more tracks before the year ends. 2021 we plan on releasing our first EP, several collaborations with artists, and (hopefully) more live performances.
Q5: Who do you see killing it in your area and beyond? Give them a shout-out!
A5: First and foremost, a huge shout out to the best team in TX, Veridian Management, we would not be answering these questions. Damian Avilla from Austin, TX is absolutely insane and a huge inspiration to us. Alusin from Gan Yavne, Israel is an incredible producer who we are looking forward to working with in the future. StraaTz from Houston, TX has a lot of potential and we have been working on a couple of projects with him that will be released this year.
