Q1: Welcome to the storm! We are excited to finally have you! Where does the name Martrexx come from?
A1: The name Martrexx came about 3 years ago hanging out with some long time buddies of mine and one of them brought over some very old Numark turn tables as we started to mess around with them a friend yelled out “Oh, look at DJ Matrix right here!” I turned back and said “No, its actually Martrexx and it has stuck with me ever since.
Q2: For the unknowing readers and soon-to-be fans, what is your primary preference on genre? Where does this liking come from?
A2: My primary preference of genre to produce is future bass but am in the works of moving into heavier, hard hitting dubstep. The liking of future bass came from the first time I heard Slander’s Heaven Trap Edit of Seven Lions‘ track Don’t Leave featuring Ellie Goulding. Once I heard that bass rattle and the heavy drop synths I cried my eyes out and knew this is what I want to make.
Q3: Walk us through a day in the life of you? Sunup to sundown!
A3: A day in the life for me during the week is sitting at my government job constantly thinking of the continuation of a track I am working on or bouncing ideas around for a new track and by 5 pm I am racing home to put those ideas down before it’s all lost. On the weekends I’m usually getting ready for a show I have scheduled but if nothing is scheduled I am kicking back and taking a break with my loving wife. Usually either playing video games with each other or just binge watching anything entertaining on Netflix.
Q4: What can your fans expect for the rest of 2020 and into 2021?
A4: For now in 2020 my fans can expect at least 1 new track that I have been sitting on for months now just waiting for the perfect timing to drop it and for 2021, my fans can definitely expect my first EP to drop if everything goes to plan it will be dropping summer 2021 to bring those perfect vibes.
Q5: Who do you see killing it lately? Give them a shout-out!
A5: Oh there are so many homies out there killing but if it had to come down to one it would definitely have to be the homie Dave Scafetta. I’m so glad I’ve had the chance to meet him and become friends with him. Overall great guy, great heart and cant forget every single song he drops is a masterpiece. Big ups to Scafetta and hope you kill this tour that’s coming up.
