MEAN STREETS
Nate Baldari, also known as Silent Phocus, is stirring up quite a storm-like commotion at our Monsoon Season HQ with his latest dubstep heater, ‘Mean Streets’ via Dover, UK‘s Prime Audio‘s latest Mixture vol. 12 compilation album.
No stranger to delivering deep and bewildering tunes on labels such as Runes, Electrostep Network, Riddim Network, and Biophaze Records, an emerging Silent Phocus gets loud with his listeners on the beloved Prime Audio platform to play with people’s heads once more.
Fans of wonky dubstep and mind-altering electronic bass music are in for an outlandishly pleasing treat as they delve into the wildly immersive and head-bobbing sounds of ‘Mean Streets’ from Silent Phocus.

Silent Phocus makes a powerful entrance with his [track 20] ‘Mean Streets’, reaffirming his distinctive musical style that pushes standard boundaries in bass music today. Even headliners in this genre-specific area would be baffled as this track is signature, and one-of-a-kind.
Silent Phocus tells us:
“The inspiration of Mean Streets was blossomed by the feeling of change and divide in today’s music industry. Giving a perspective that you need to be tough to get through the industry and the only way to strive is by having a chip on your shoulder,; hence the name ‘Mean Streets’.

Talk to us about the production behind Mean Streets!
“I always say the simpler the better. It really didn’t take much to produce ‘Mean Streets’. My inspiration came from listening to UK Drill, and Memphis hip-hop, and I took from there. I found an ambient melody that fit my emotion at the time. I added a vocal sample around said melody. I added more FX and different atmospheric tones. Then from that point; I developed the drops through multiple different drum & percussion sections adding rhythmic synths and bass patches.”
From its brooding intro to the otherworldly vertigo-inducing builds and their drops, ‘Mean Streets’ is one for the experimental bass books. As it plays in wonky fashion, our minds jaunt elsewhere with kaleidoscope’s of auditory wonder.
By the second drop, Silent Phocus recharges his WTF-beam and aims it right at you, blasting away at your assumptions and expectations that this song won’t have you smashing the replay/repeat button in a berserk-like behavior.
Silent Phocus outdoes himself with his addition of ‘Mean Streets‘ to Prime Audio‘s twelfth installation unto their ‘Mixture‘ compilation upload series.
“What… a… tune! Was not expecting such a sensory experience but kept coming back, joyed to hear more surprises in its rowdy 3:18 runtime.“
