Los Angeles‘s bass music rising icon GunFight is brandishing a whole new type of weapon with the release of his new fiery drum and bass single “Ill Mentality” that spans nearly five minutes, sure to keep the energy blazing all night long.
GunFight is undeniably known for his sensational and rowdy bass music, although as of late we have seen the budding California-based producer dabbling in the realms of drum and bass, and the results are sure to get your knees moving.
Be forewarned, this new production from GunFight is a powerhouse proof of concept that “faster is better” works if it is done correctly and beautifully. Get ready for one helluva ride into the mind of “Ill Mentality” and all its upbeat musical psychosis.
This new addition comes as his fourth official production of 2023 behind his melodic bass track “Salvo”, the halftime DNB single “Decennary”, and his 135 BPM synth-heavy recent heater “Ride” (all of which we covered here on the site), and his debut guest mix on New Orleans-based EDM media site and record label, The Electric Movement that is packed with hits and IDs of the same sort to enjoy.
What’s not to love about this new track? The energy, the structure, and the captivating ability to take listers on a journey through their stamina and sanity.
The intro beckons your attention, right off the bat with the telephonic vocals from what sounds to be a prerecorded customer service representative from a mental health hotline pulling you in with his directives.
Combine those hypnotizing storytelling bits with the hard-hitting, fast-paced, and sweat-producing basslines that GunFight layers in throughout the 4:33 duration will keep listeners locked-in, smashing repeat, and playlisting this track for all things that require a surplus of energy.
