Q1: Welcome back to our thunderous skies, Festivillainz! What’s been new and happening since we last spoke on Instagram Live?

Festivillainz: Just been living life! I have been golfing a lot and spending lots of time with my wife so has been very good family-wise! I’m figuring out the next steps for Festivillainz and where I want to take it so be sure to look out for some new stuff!

Q2: Can you give us a snapshot of the creative processes and development of Monster? From DAW to done, what was going on upstairs from start to finish?

Festivillainz:  I was trying to go more of a riddim style to but still keep that evil Festivillainz sound in it. My dog was actually right beside me in the studio and let out a big yawn that had a loud whine noise to it so that sparked the idea for the drop synth but wanted to make it deeper. I started with the drop and the intro and breaks just fell into place with the monstrous theme to it.

Q3: I recall when we first started to review the Monster submission, the sound it gave off was so screechy and grunt-like, such as a walrus makes and here we are with the art to match. What about this song was so menacing and monstrous to go as far as making its title as such?

Festivillainz: The drop synths I wanted to resemble kind of a monster growl and as I mentioned it was similar to my dog’s yawn just deeper and you were actually the one who pointed out they sounded like an evil walrus and it fit perfect!

Q4: Where and when can we expect to see Festivillainz rinse this song next on the road?

Festivillainz: I was supposed to play in Fort McMurray, Alberta last weekend but that unfortunately got postponed due to the out-of-control wildfires that are currently still going on. My thoughts are with everyone in that area!

Aside from that – my manager and I are working on a few more shows that we’re hoping to be able to announce soon.

Q6: What’s cooking in the Festivillainz kitchen? Is there any new music on the near horizon?

Festivillainz:  New music next month for sure! Will just be a self-release but I’m very excited to drop this song!

Q7: Any tips or tricks for up-and-coming producers to make music like you or like Monster?

Festivillainz: One of my best pieces of advice for new producers is to just have fun with it and let things happen. Don’t try and restrict yourself when coming up with a new song. Sometimes we have certain visions in our mind but the creative process at the moment isn’t going in that direction and that’s perfectly fine, there’s always another song to make!
