Washington D.C.’s own Dutchman ignites dancefloors and sets listeners ablaze with two new fiery DNB tunes via his Night Shift EP.

Hailing from northern Virginia, rising bass music artist Dutchman has been on quite the warpath with his latest two releases.

The EP titled Night Shift is his most recent release, and it includes 2 face-melting tracks titled “Night Shift” and “Ecstasy”.

Delving into his neurofunk vibes, Dutchman has created a true masterpiece right here, and I’m about to break it down for you, track by track, starting with the title track Night Shift.

TRACK ONE – NIGHT SHIFT

This EP starts off on a high note with track one, Night Shift. Straight out of the gate, we were greeted with a fast-paced arpeggio, instantly setting the tone for what this track offers.

Quickly, listeners are sent into a very dancey drum pattern, which also contains one of the most devastating snares I have heard in a long time.

As the snare punches you in the gut, a very rapid-paced and almost reggae-like vocal sample comes in, completing this complex groove created simultaneously by this and the drum beat.

When the drop comes in, it is like being smacked across the face by instant nostalgia. A killer bass line that is reminiscent of some old-school Delta Heavy or Dirtyphonics vibes is what occurs when the drop of Night Shift rolls in.

As it blares, you can instantly envision an entire dance floor at the deep underground rave erupting in dance and not your typical contemporary EDM sight, but I’m talking that 90s rave vibe.

This track is a must-add to your live sets if you are a DJ, I know I’m adding it to mine! This track is a truly exciting journey to sit back and get lost in its stellar flow, while also being entranced by the wide amount of instrumentation used in this production.

TRACK 2 – ECSTASY

Next up, we close out the EP with Ecstasy. This one kicks off with a vocal line that transcends this sick drum and bass style beat to create a simple yet complex intro.

However, the heart of this track lies in these insane Reese basses Dutchman uses to fake out his audience. Right before the drop, it is total devastation by bass and sub. Then, the DNB hits and absolutely ignites a would-be dance floor.

There is also a stand-out section in this track that has just the main vocal line, accompanied by the Reese basses (mentioned previously). This section doesn’t require any drums to set an insanely atmospheric vibe. This track also has a nostalgia to it (honestly, I have had it on repeat since it came across my desk).

Dutchman has brought absolute madness with this 2-track EP. From the song structures to clean mixdowns, he truly displays a unique and refreshing take on the subgenres he tackled with this release.

I can’t wait to see what drops next!
